Getting Started With Risen Consultants
Who is eligible for our services? Risen Consultants serves children and adults with behavioral challenges. Typically, we support individuals who require assistance in
- Developing or enhancing language skills to more effectively communicate their needs and functional skills (e.g., daily living, self-regulation) that will lead to greater independence
- Diminishing problem behaviors such as noncompliance, aggression, self-injury, elopement, and property destruction that limit their ability to develop skills and participate fully in integrated settings.
What is needed to start a services
1.Initial Assessment (Admission):
a. Physician’s written order
b. Medical necessity letter
c. One of the following:
- Diagnostic evaluation conducted by one of the following:
Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation:A Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluation (CDE) is a thorough review and assessment of the child’s development and behavior using national, evidence-based practice standards, which may include:- Parent or guardian interview Teacher assessment
- Diagnostic testing using tools such as:
- Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2)
- The Childhood Autism Rating Scale – 2nd edition (CARS2)
- Modified Checklist for Autism in Toddlers, Revised (M-CHAT-R)
- Communication and Symbolic Behavior Scales (CSBS)
- Autism Diagnostic Interview, Revised (ADI-R)
- Social Communication Questionnaire o Battelle Developmental Inventory- 2nd edition
- Hearing and vision testing
- Genetic testing
- Neurological and/or other medical testing
- The CDE must be led by licensed practitioners qualified to assess child developmental disorders such as:
- Developmental Pediatricians
- Child Neurologists
- Child Psychologists
- Child Psychiatrists
